Jakub Nowak has been a member of the Royal Swedish Orchestra since 2017. He is educated both in Poland and Germany. After studying with Janusz Kucharski and Maria Orzechowska at the Z. Brzewski School of Music and the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Jakub continued as a student of Mark Gothoni at the Universität der Künste Berlin and obtained his master's degree in 2015.
Jakub is a regular guest as concertmaster in, among others, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, KORK in Oslo and the Norrland Opera Symphony Orchestra. In 2022 he became a member as principal violinist in the Bayreuther Festspielorchester. His orchestral experience includes many years of participation in the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin and the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg. Jakub also appeared as concertmaster with Nowa Orkiestra Kameralna Warszawa and Hovkapelle Weimar.
Jakub Nowak has been and continues to be a passionate chamber musician. During his studies, he founded and directed the Warsaw Baroque Ensemble and the Nerros Ensemble. In Warsaw, he started the string quartet Nostadema with a focus on newly written music. In 2024, he has begun collaboration with Uppsala Chamber Soloists.
Jakub plays a violin by Antonio Gragnani from 1776, loaned through the Järnåker Foundation.
When he is not busy with the violin, he loves to read books, listen to jazz, enjoy hand-brewed indigenous coffee, dogwalking, pick berries and mushrooms and play the piano.
