Johan Rydh
At the Royal Swedish Opera, Johan Rydh has in recent years appeared as a soloist in world premieres such as Löftet and När knopper brister (both 2022), Sweeney Todd, A Midsummer Night's Dream (2023) and as The Officer in Il barbiere di Siviglia.
Johan Rydh made his operatic debut at the Royal Swedish Opera as a ten-year-old boy soprano in Carmen. He was educated at Operastudio 67 and the Academy of Theatre and Opera in Gothenburg and made his debut on the Göteborg Opera's main stage in the spring of 1996 as Hans in Äppelkriget and has since been engaged in many different productions at the Göteborg Opera, Folkoperan, Wermland Opera, Ystad Opera, Opera på Skäret, Den Norske Opera, Den ny Opera Esbjerg and Staatsoper Stuttgart, among others.
Johan Rydh has sung Renato in Un ballo di maschera, Wotan in Wagner's Das Rheingold, Enrico in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Guglielmo in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Scarpia in Tosca, Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Escamillo in Carmen and the title roles in Don Giovanni and Rigoletto.
Johan is represented on several albums and is an appreciated soloist at concerts and in choral works.
