Madeleine Barringer
Madeleine Barringer grew up in Halmstad and studied at the Academy of Music in Gothenburg and the University College of Opera in Stockholm, where she graduated in 2000.
In 2006 she joined Operan and has since performed roles such as Sandrina (La Finta Giardiniera), Despina (Così fan Tutte), Fünfte Magd (Elektra), Barena in Jenůfa and Tuesday in the world premiere of Tristessa, Mary in Der ferne Klang and Sara in the newly written opera The Promise. Madeleine also sang one of the lead roles in the newly written opera När knoppar brister, which was included in Short Stories 3.
Other engagements include Violetta (La traviata), Beatrice (Jeppe), Woglinde (Das Rheingold), Blondchen (Die Entführung aus der Serail), all at Folkoperan. First Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Confidencen, Michaela (Carmen), Parkteatern, Östgötateatern and Fiordiligi (Così fan Tutte), Ystadoperan.
Madeleine has received scholarships from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, Friends of the Drottningholm Theatre and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee and is a frequently engaged soloist in concert contexts.
In addition to her work in the Royal Swedish Opera Choir, Madeleine has worked extensively with children's opera and written, produced and performed opera for children of different ages.
