Ingela Brimberg
Ingela Brimberg sang her first Brünnhilde in Theater an der Wien's ring trilogy (!) in the 2017/18 season, after roles such as Senta in Der fliegende Holländer, Elsa in Lohengrin, and as Strauss' (anti-) heroines Elektra and Salome.
During hes career, Brimberg has sung a wide range of roles. Early she sang mezzo-roles such as Rosina and Cherubin, and she made her soprano debut as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Folkoperan / Riksteatern 2003. She has also played Tosca, Manon Lescaut, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, Aida, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, the title roles in Jenufa, Katja Kabanova and Lady Macbeth in Verdi's Macbeth, the title role in Elektra (among other things in a spectacular production of La Fura dels Baus - on DVD by Unitel Classica).
During the 2020/21 season, she returned to the Gothenburg Opera as Brünnhilde, where she previously portrayed Katja Kabanova, Tosca and Elettra in Idomeneo. On the concert stage, she performed Strauss' Vier Letzte Lieder with the Orchester National de Lille and the Opéra de Rouen Normandie and Oviedo Filarmonia.
Brimberg began his 2019/20 season with his role debut as Isolde in Tristan und Isolde, in a new production for Opera Köln, Eva in Fagerlund's The Autumn Sonata at the Helsinki Opera, and returned to the role as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre (Teatro Real, Madrid and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra).
Ingela Brimberg's first sensational Sentas was given a concert in France, Austria and Spain (Marc Minkowski), and a recording was released by Naïve. She has since played this role at the Theater an der Wien, the Cologne Opera, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Brimberg has collaborated with conductors such as Marc Minkowski, Donald Runnicles, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Daniel Harding, Francois-Xavier Roth, Leif Segerstam, Sakari Oramo and Pablo Heras-Casado, to name a few.
