 IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA  is back at the Royal Swedish Opera

A comedy full of disguises, complications, courtship and some of the greatest hits of the opera world. With inspiration from commedia dell’arte, director Linus Fellbom, set designer Julia Przedmojska and costume designer Lena Lindgren give new life to this action-packed story accompanied by Rossini’s inspiring music.

In this first chapter of the Figaro story the resourceful barber Figaro helps love-struck Count Almaviva get his Rosina. The next chapter is revealed in Le nozze di Figaro, another production by the same director and creative team on the spring programme. Rossini’s opera was created 30 years after Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Both are based on plays by the French playwright Beaumarchais.
