Urban Erikson was born in Stockholm in 1959. Between the years 1977 and 1982 he studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. In addition, he studied with Professor James Watson at the Royal Academy in London in 1980-81 and with Professor James Stamp in Los Angeles in 1983.
Since 1982, Urban Eriksson has been a member of the Royal Swedish Orchestra, where he has played first trumpet since 1985. He co-founded the Swedish Brass Quintet and "KammarensebleN" in Stockholm.
Urban Eriksson is also a member of Drottningholm's baroque ensemble, with which he has made several recordings, such as Bach's B minor Mass, the Christmas Oratorio and Handel's Messiah.
In addition to his musical career, he also works as an inventor. He has designed and developed the Hearwig, which is an acoustic hearing protector for orchestral musicians. He has also developed a piccolo trumpet specifically for playing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2.
Urban Eriksson comes from a musical family. He is the third generation in a row to choose music as a profession.
Urban Eriksson is a teacher at the Academy of Music in Stockholm. In his spare time, he coaches a youth soccer team.
