Klas Hedlund studied at the University College of Opera in Stockholm and he made his debut as Alfred in J. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus at Folkoperan in 1991.
More recently, Klas Hedlund has appeared in the Royal Swedish Opera's productions such as Die lustige Witwe, Vanderdendur/Governer/Captain/Crook in Sweeney Todd, Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos, Pirelli in Sweeney Todd and Drum Major in Wozzeck. Klas Hedlund has also made guest appearance in the popular Scalarevyn.
Amongst his roles at the Royal Swedish Opera are Ecclitico (Haydn's Il mondo della Luna), Mozart's Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Tamino (Die Zauerflöte), Georges (Boieldieu's The White Lady), Count Almaviva (Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia), Count di Lerma (Verdi's Don Carlos) and the Duke of Mantova (Rigoletto), R. Strauss' Narraboth (Salome), Flamand (Capriccio) and Ein Sänger (Der Rosenkavalier), Andres (Berg's Wozzeck), Janek (Janácek's The Makropoulos Affair), Jenik (Smetana’s The bartered bride), Nemorino (Donizetti's L’elisir d’amore), Froh (Wagner's Das Rheingold) and Edmond (Puccini's Manon Lescaut), etc.
Amongst his other engagements, Tirsi (Peri's Euridice), Pasquale (Haydn's Orlando Paladino), Momo (Rossi's Orfeo) and Arbace (Mozart's Idomeneo) at the Drottningholm Court Theatre, Nero (Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea at Norrlandsoperan), Riccardo (Scarlatti's Il trionfo dell’onore) in Paris, Bryssel and Caen. Also involveed at the Folkoperan, Malmö Opera and the Finnish National Opera, etc.
Klas Hedlund has made recordings of, among other things, J S Bach's St. Matthew Passion and Mass in B minor with Eric Ericson.
