Danish bass-baritone Kristian Flor has been a member of the Royal Swedish Opera since 2006. During the 2025/26 season, he sang roles including Bartolo in The Marriage of Figaro, the Water Goblin in Rusalka, Timur in Turandot and Dr Vigelius/the Baron in Der ferne Klang. In autumn 2026, he returns as Angelotti in Tosca and Frank in Die Fledermaus.
Kristian Flor was born and raised in Denmark and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Opera Academy in Copenhagen.
Since joining the Royal Swedish Opera in 2006, he has appeared in a wide range of productions. His roles include Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Bartolo and Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro, Monterone in Rigoletto, Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Cesare Angelotti in Tosca and Timur in Turandot. He has also appeared in productions including Madama Butterfly, Otello, Der Rosenkavalier, Fedora, Parsifal and Stravinsky’s The Nightingale.
Among his more recent productions at the Royal Swedish Opera are the 2022 world premiere of Mats Larsson Gothe and Susanne Marko’s The Promise, Gianni Schicchi in 2022, A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2023 and The Barber of Seville in 2024, in which he sang Basilio. That same year, he also appeared in Love & Chaos at Drottningholm Palace Theatre.
Kristian Flor has also appeared in several world premieres at the Royal Swedish Opera. In Victoria Borisova-Ollas’s Dracula in 2017, he portrayed Holmwood, and in The Boy and the Love for Three Oranges, freely adapted from Goldoni, he sang the roles of the Father and Little Truff. His other roles at the Royal Swedish Opera include Fiorello and the Officer in The Barber of Seville, the Duke’s Usher in Rigoletto and a Knight of the Grail in Parsifal.
