In 2023, Swedish soprano Malin Byström made her debut in the role of Marie in Wozzeck at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, a role she will return to in the autumn of 2024 at the Royal Swedish Opera, where she also appeared as Tosca during the same autumn.

Malin Byström is a regular and sought-after guest on the world's most prestigious stages and performs regularly at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper and Bayerische Staatsoper. Her career is marked by a series of acclaimed performances in roles such as Tosca, Salome and Minnie in La fanciulla del West. She has performed on stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam and the San Francisco Opera.

In the summer of 2024, Malin appeared as Minnie at the Münchner Opernfestspiele, Countess Madeleine in Capriccio in concert at the Edinburgh International Festival, and in recitals at the Schubertíada Festival in Spain, at the Göteborg Opera and at the Wigmore Hall in London.

The spring of 2025 offers two major role debuts: Danae in a new production of Strauss' Die Liebe der Danae at the Bayerische Staatsoper and her first Elisabeth in Tannhäuser at Wiener Staatsoper.

In the 2023/24 season, Malin Byström took on two new roles: Elsa in Lohengrin at the Dutch National Opera and the Woman in Schönberg's Erwartung at the Teatro Real, she also appeared as Minnie in La fanciulla del West at Wiener Staatsoper and returned to Vienna to reprise her role as Elsa in Lohengrin.

Previously, Malin performed a new and acclaimed Salome in a new production at Wiener Staatsopoer and performed the same role at the Royal Opera House and in concert at the Edinburgh Festival. The season also included Minnie in La fanciulla del West at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Tosca at both the Royal Opera House and the Royal Swedish Opera, as well as her role debut as Rusalka at the Bergen National Opera.

Malin Byström has been a regular guest at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in roles such as Salome, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Mathilde in Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Hélène in Les Vêpres Siciliennes, Elettra in Idomeneo, Marguerite in Faust, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Amalia in I Masnadieri.

Malin Byström made her debut as Salome in 2017 at the Dutch National Opera with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the baton of Daniele Gatti, a role for which she was awarded Female Singer of the Year at the International Opera Awards 2018. In the 2020/21 season, Byström made a critically acclaimed debut at Wiener Staatsoper as Elisabeth de Valois in Don Carlos. The season also included a debut at Bolshoi, as Salome.

Malin Byström has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera as Donna Elvira and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, the title role in Arabella and Marguerite in Faust. She has sung Tosca at Oper Frankfurt, Dutch National Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin and in guest appearances at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and has appeared as Countess Madeleine in Capriccio at the Teatro Real in Madrid. In 2016, Malin Byström made her debut at the San Francisco Opera when she performed her first Jenůfa.

Malin has appeared in several productions at the Royal Swedish Opera in roles such as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, the title role in Giordano's Fedora, Minnie in La fanciulla del West, Tosca, Desdemona in Otello, Jenůfa, Donna Elvira and Romilda in Xerxes.

Among Malin Byström's many other engagements are Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival, Donna Elvira in a filmed live broadcast of Don Giovanni with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Fiordiligi at the Bayerische Staatsoper, the title role in Thaïs at the Göteborg Opera and the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro in Aix-en-Provence and at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Amelia in Simon Boccanegra in Gothenburg and Elettra in Idomeneo at Drottningholm Palace Theatre.

Previous engagements for Malin Byström have included Marguerite in Christoph Loy's acclaimed Faust production at the Göteborg Opera and Agathe in Der Freischütz in Bregenz. She has sung Donna Anna with René Jacobs in Baden-Baden (released on DVD), in Leipzig, Gothenburg and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In 2016, Malin Byström received the Litteris et Artibus medal from HM The King of Sweden for her outstanding artistic contributions as an opera singer, and just two years later she was appointed court singer.
