Brittish mezzo-soprano Bethany Horak-Hallett will make her debut in spring 2025 as Cherubino in the Royal Swedish Opera's new production of Le nozze di Figaro.
Bethany Horak-Hallett is establishing strong credentials as a fine interpreter of Handel, Mozart and their contemporaries on both the opera stage and the concert platform.
She recently sang Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro for Garsington Opera having previously performed Dorabella in Così fan tutte for the company. Bethany has appeared with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) on numerous occasions most notably singing Galatea in Handel’s Aci, Galatea e Polifemo and made her BBC Proms début with the Monteverdi Choir under Sir John Eliot Gardiner singing Handel’s Dixit Dominus (broadcast on BBC TV and Radio). She has sung Messiah with the English Chamber Orchestra under Nicholas Kraemer and filmed the work with Voces 8 for their Live from London festival.
Bethany’s versatility as a performer has seen her take the roles of Lady Psyche in Princess Ida with the OAE and Prince Orlofsky Die Fledermaus for IF Opera alongside contemporary works such as Thomas Adès The Exterminating Angel (conducted by the composer) which marked her Opéra de Paris début.
Concert projects include Bach with the Royal Northen Sinfonia under Dinis Sousa and Haydn’s Nelson Mass with the OAE under John Butt. She has also performed with the Academy of Ancient Music, the Dunedin Consort and the National Symphony Orchestra, Dublin.
She has performed programmes at the London Handel Festival, the University of Leeds and the Oxford International Song Festival.
