Emilie was born in Gothenburg in 1982 and studied at the Falun Conservatory of Music. After high school there, she moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal College of Music. Emilie has played with many orchestras in England and Sweden, including Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English and London Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2006, Emilie became the first viola player to compete in the Ljunggrenska competition and she reached the final which was broadcast in P2.
Emilie is a member of the Chiaroscuro Quartet, which specializes in the classical and early romantic repertoire, playing with period strings and late string instruments. The quartet has given concerts in many of the major concert halls and festivals in Europe such as Wigmore Hall London, Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, Theater du Jeu de Paume in Aix-en-Provence, Auditorium de Dijon, Sage Gateshead and Aldeburgh Easter, West Cork Music, Hindsgavl, Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn, Cambridge and Cheltenham festivals. In September 2011, the Chiaroscuro Quartet released their debut album with music by Mozart and Schubert. The album received a fantastic reception and won the Choc de L'annee in French Classica and Strad Magazine wrote "one of the most impressive chamber music debut records in recent years". The quartet's second CD with music by Beethoven and Mozart will be released in March 2013.
Emilie was alternating viola conductor in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra until 2010 when she moved to Stockholm to take the job as conductor in the Royal Swedish Orchestra at the Stockholm Opera.
