In the autumn of 2024, Jeremy Carpenter will appear at the Royal Swedish Opera as the Miller's Foreman in Jenůfa and Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd.
The 2023/24 season began with Strauss' Elektra where Jeremy sang Orestes, which was followed by Don Giovanni with Jeremy in the title role. Before that, he played the role of Germont in La traviata and the role of Judge Turpin in Sweneey Todd on the same stage. He also created the world premiere of Sven-David Sandström's The Book of Life together with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.
At the Royal Swedish Opera has he appeared in roles such as Philippe in Rufus Wainwright's opera Prima Donna, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Dr. Pangloss in Bernstein’s Candide, Marquis de la Force in Poulenc's Dialogues des carmélites, the title role in Don Giovanni, Danilo in Die lustige Witwe, Dr. Vigelius and the Baron in Schreker's Der ferne Klang, Zhou Enlai in John Adams’ Nixon in China, the Protector in Written on Skin, Escamillo in Carmen and Gérard in Andrea Chénier. Jeremy also played the role of Angelotti in the Royal Swedish Opera's filmed concert version of Tosca for the Swedish Operan Play in 2021.
Jeremy has performed the role of the Protector in Written on Skin during guest performances with the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and semi-concerts in Beijing and Shanghai under the direction of Laurence Renes.
Jeremy has appeared at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden where he sung Sir Robert Cecil in Britten’s Gloriana, as well as Guglielmo Cecil in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda. Jeremy Carpenter has played the role of Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Marullo in Rigoletto in Dijon and Belcore in L’élisir d’amore at the Angers Nantes Opéra. He has visited Folkoperan in Stockholm as Zurga in Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers and Germont in La traviata, and at Malmö Opera he has sung Escamillo in Carmen. He has performed at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Opéra de Lille, Grange Park Opera and Theater S:t Gallen, among others.
In his repertoire, Jeremy Carpenter has also roles such as Almaviva and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro.
Jeremy Carpenter is also frequent as concert singer with a wide repertoire. He has, for example, sung the role of Talpa in a concert version of Puccini's Il tabarro with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Harding.
Jeremy Carpenter was educated at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
