Jon Nilsson has a musical background as a fiddler. After graduating as a chamber musician and soloist at the Edsberg Music Institute, he joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm. His great passion for singing led him on to the Academy of Opera in Stockholm.

Jon's career as an opera singer began by winning the prestigious Gösta Winbergh Award tenor competition and also other fine awards such as the Jussi Björling scholarship and the Drottningholm Court Theatre's singing scholarship. Jon has played roles in, among others Vadstena Academy, the Folkoperan, Läckö Palace Opera, Confidencen and the Royal Swedish Opera. At the Nobel Festival entertainment in 2005, you could see Jon as Tamino in Mozart's The Magic Flute.

In 2016, Jon made his debut as Erik in Värmlänningarna at Skansen with the orchestra of the Värmand opera. In 2016, Jon also played the title role in Zucco, a new opera by Johan Ullén for the Royal Swedish Opera, as well as roles in The Magic Flute and Fedora. During the 2017-18 season, he plays roles such as Fisken (Roussilon) Hermansson in Die lustige Witwe, Quincey in Dracula and A host in Der Rosenkavalier.
