Katarina Leoson has in recent seasons debuted at the Metropolitan in New York as Maddalena in Rigoletto. She most recently returned there as Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro. She has visited Oper Frankfurt where she performed the role of Lucia Vingradito in Rossini's The Thieving Magpie. She has sung Cornelia in Handel's Julius Caesar at the Finnish National Opera and Olga in Eugen Onegin at the Norrlands Opera.

Since 2001, Katarina Leoson has been part of the soloist ensemble at the Royal Swedish Opera, where she has appeared in roles such as Maddalena in Rigoletto, Olga in Eugen Onegin, Tisbe in Cinderella and the title role in Carmen. During the 2010/2011 season, she sang the title role in Gluck's Orphée in Mats Ek's critically acclaimed production, as well as made her role debut as Erda in Rhenguldet. The roles in recent seasons have included Carmen in a new production signed by Vincent Boussard, Pauline in Dam of Spades, Fricka in Valkyrian, Amastre in Handel's Xerxes and Suzuki's Madame Butterfly as well as Geneviève in Pelléas and Mélisande.

Last season included Ulrica in the Masquerade Ball as well as Erda in Rhenguldet and Siegfried and the First Norn in Ragnarök.

This season she participates as, among other things,Maddalena in the Royal Opera's new Rigoletto signed by Sofia Jupiter, as well as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.

Katarina Leoson studied at the Academy of Opera in Stockholm where she graduated in 1998. She made her debut at the Royal Opera in Stockholm already in 1996 as the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte.
