Baritone Mikael Horned received his bachelor’s diploma from the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2020. During the season 2022/23 he will be performing the role of Schaunard in La bohème. In his debut season 21/22 he portrayed Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, Robber in The Snow Queen and was guest soloist at the New Year’s Concert.
In the summer of 2021, Mikael portrayed the role of Lesbo in Handel’s Agrippina directed by Staffan Valdemar Holm at the Drottningholm Palace Theater. In 2019, Mikael sang the role of Pluto in Telemann’s Orpheus at Vadstena-Akademien Opera Festival and the following autumn he sang Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm as part of an internship.
Mikael has received awards such as the Friends of Drottningholm Palace Theater’s Opera Scholarship and stipends from the Anders Sandrew’s Foundation, Freemason’s of S:t Erik Swedish Art’s Grants Committee, Royal Swedish Academy of Music and Östergötland Scholarship of Culture.
