Mikael started playing the violin at the age of eight. After a few years, he had the opportunity to take lessons from the violinist Inge Thorsson in Uppsala, whose inspiring teaching made him continue to play.
After violin studies with Kjell Larsson at Ingesund's Folk High School 1990-1992, Mikael began to devote himself to the viola more and more. 1994-1999 Mikael studied viola under the guidance of prof. Björn Sjögren at the Academy of Music in Stockholm. The graduation concert was held in 1999. He has participated in summer courses and masterclasses for Simon Rowland-Jones in England.
In addition to his duties in the Royal Swedish Orcehstra, Mikael likes to play baroque music - among other things, he has participated in the drottninghlm Court Theatre productions in the years 1998-2002.
In his spare time, he enjoys painting.
