Niklas Björling Rygert was extensively involved as a child actor, including in Pippi Longstocking and Snow White at Folkan, but also in film and on radio and television. His musical path began in Adolf Fredrik's music classes. Niklas is educated at the NBV Teaterverkstad in Stockholm, Operastudio 67 and the Academy of Opera in Stockholm.
Ever since his graduation, he has belonged to the permanent ensemble at the Royal Swedish Opera, where he has sung a large number of roles. Among other things Mime in both Das Rheingold and Siegfried 2005/2006. It brought him international attention and took him to Valencia where in 2008 and 2009 he sang both roles at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia under the direction of Zubin Mehta. Since then, Niklas has regularly worked with Mehta. Among others in Tel Aviv in 2011 where he sang Klaus Narr in Gurre-Lieder with the Israel Symphony Orchestra. A concert that is also released on disc.
Niklas has also performed as a guest at the Madrid Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Semperoper Dresden, De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam and Maggio Musicale Firenze.
In Sweden, in addition to the Royal Swedish Opera, he has also sung at Folkoperan, Confidencen, Drottningholm and at Malmö Opera and Musikteater.
In 2013 he was again invited to Tel Aviv for concert versions of Falstaff and Otello with the Israel Symphony Orchestra and Zubin Mehta.
Niklas received the Friends of Opera scholarship (2003), the Freemason scholarship (2005), the Gunn Wållgren scholarship (2005) and the Uno Stjernqvist scholarship (2006).
