Part 13: the sound department

The Magical House

Part 13 - the sound departmant

In the Opera House, there are sounds everywhere! In episode 13 of The Magical House, sound supervisor Lars-Göran explains how he and the rest of the sound department make sure that the audience can hear everything that happens on stage and how to amplify emotions with sound. But what exactly is sound, and can sound be visual? Sound researcher Karl answers, and we also learn that to record an opera, 80 microphones are needed around the stage, and even in the chandelier!

A big thank you to the Jacob Wallenbergs stiftelse, Särskilda fonden, for making this episode possible.
