Khai Ern Ooi
Khai Ern Ooi has been employed in the Royal Swedish Orchestra since 2017. Since then, she has also worked as alternating voice director for second violin in the Royal Swedish Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In her native Malaysia, she is concertmaster of the Malaysia Bach Festival Orchestra and plays regularly with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
As the founder of Ensemble Virama, Khai Ern plays chamber music, gives workshops and engages in various educational projects at schools and universities around Malaysia. She served in the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Japan from 2011–2014, and was alternating concertmaster of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago in 2010–2011. She has performed at major festivals such as Lucerne, Salzburg and Spoleto USA, and in concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Khai Ern received her bachelor's and master's education at Indiana University in the United States.
