A chorus that never stands still: The chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera, together with the Royal Swedish Orchestra, form the backbone of our performances and sometimes even share the stage with the Royal Swedish Ballet.

Bears, vampires or three-legged "grisettes"... The Royal Swedish Opera Chorus masters singing at the absolute highest level while both acting and dancing on stage. The 54 chorus members and three chorus masters represent approx. 13 different nationalities and are educated at opera schools around the world.
The Royal Swedish Opera Chorus was formed before the premiere of the opera Thétis and Pelée on January 18, 1773 at Bollhuset (the predecessor of the Royal Swedish Opera) at Slottsbacken in the Old Town ("Gamla stan"). Since then, it has been an indispensable part of the Royal Swedish Opera's operations.
