Ylva Lundén-Welden
Ylva Lundén-Welden began her musical career as a violinist and studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with professors Sven Karpe, Ville Sundling and Semmy Stalhammer.
She fell for the viola when she got a chance to sit in with a string quartet. After that, she studied the violas at Edsbergs Musikinstitut (the independent chamber music division of the Royal College of Music) for Björn Sjögren.
After a few years as an orchestra musician, she moved to New York and studied with Karen Richter.
Ylva Lundén-Welden worked as a violist in the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra 1992–1996, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra 1991–1992 and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra 1996–1998.
Ylva has been employed in the Royal Swedish Orchestra since 1998.
Alongside her orchestral playing, she plays chamber music and also likes to play the flute.
