Yvan Auzely was born in 1959 in la Rochelle, France. He studied at Conservatoire national de la Rochelle from 1973 to 1979 with Colette Milner and Marie Paule Cantenis. He then worked in Ulm, Germany, from 1979 to 1980 with Gunther Pick and Bernt Shindowsky; from 1980 to 1981 in Lyon opera, France, with Milkos Sparemblek; and on freelance basis with Maguie Marin and Francois Guilbar.
Yvan came to Sweden and the Cullberg Ballet in 1981 and stayed with the company until 2001, under the direction of Mats Ek, and was part of all his creations: Giselle, Antigone, The Rite of spring, Swan lake, Carmen, She was black, and Light beings. He also acted in Mats Ek's theater productions: The Jew of Malta by Cristopher Marlowe, Johanna (Joan of Arc), at the Orionteater in Stockholm, Dans med nästan at Stadsteatern (Stockholm), and at the Royal Dramatic Theater (Dramaten) from 2001 till 2007 with Don Juan, Andromaque, Merchant of Venice, and A Dream Play by August Strindberg. He also took parts in films: Bengbulan directed by Suzanne Osten, Leva livet by Mikael Håfström
and TV films: Gynekologen i Askim (directed by Tova Magnusson-Norling) and Åkalla by Åsa Kalmer.
Yvan Auzely has participated in dance films and video productions such as: Working Class Heroes by Christopher Bruce; Giselle, Swan Lake, Gammal och dör, and Yxa, by Mats Ek; Homeward bound by Efva Lilja, Rain by Pontus Lidberg; Desiré by Nathalie Ruiz; and Slaktarens vals by Anna Zachrisson.
In 2012-2013, Yvan Auzely took part in Spöksonaten at Dramaten , directed by Mats Ek. Since then he has performed as a dancer in Mats Ek's Julia & Romeo at the Royal Swedish Opera, as a dancer/actor in Utvandrarna at Dramaten (directed and choreography by Mats Ek), Beckett & Beyond directed by Beth Corning in Pittsburgh, and in the duo Yxa with Ana Laguna, created by Mats EK for television (and also a stage version). In 2017, he performed in Iris by Johanna Nuutinen in Helsinki. In 2020-2021 he performed in Alexander Ekman's Kuckel at Orionteatern in Stockholm, and in 2022-2024 he performed in Ekman's sequel, Kuckel 2, at Orionteatern and on a Swedish tour.
In 2025, Yvan Auzely dances together with Ana Laguna in the world premiere of Mats Ek's A Cup of Coffee at the Royal Swedish Opera.
