Part 3: the costume department

The Magical House

Part 3 - the costume department

Every year, more than 1,000 costumes are made for the Opera's various performances. The costumes can make characters come to life and transform opera singers into - robots, dancers into snowflakes (or even polar bears!) and magically transform an entire choir into bears. The possibilities are endless. All costumes worn by the singers and dancers on stage are created and sown here at The Royal Swedish Opera. But how is a costume made from scratch?

In this episode, the host Sara Lewerth meets Annette who works as a cutter at the costume studio and finds out more about how a costume is made.

A big thank you to Astrid Ohlin, who contributed to making this episode possible, in memory of Jan Ohlin - and Wallenius.
