Anders Östberg
Anders Östberg was born and raised in Växjö, where he began his singing career in school. He has studied at Lunnevads Folkhögskola, Birmingham Conservatoire and the opera college of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Anders has sung many operatic roles, including the title role in Eugene Onegin, Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, Steward in Jonathan Dove's Flight, Argante in Rinaldo, Escamillo in Carmen, Don Giovanni, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Mercurio in L'incoronazione di Poppea and Giove in La Calisto.
He is also active as an oratorio singer and his repertoire includes, among many other works, Mendelssohn's Elias, Haydn's The Seasons, Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Bach’s St John Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Handel's The Messiah, and Mozart's and Fauré's requiems.
During his 14 years in Great Britain, Anders worked as a soloist, understudy and choral singer at Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, English National Opera, Opera North and with several smaller opera companies. Since his return to Sweden, he has participated as an extra chorister at the Royal Swedish Opera in a number of productions as well as singing with Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and the Slottskyrkan Vocal Ensemble.
